Mayfair Cologne

As a Woman, T&H were never on my radar screen for fragrances. But, after testing their relatively new Mayfair cologne in a London department store, I simply had to have it. Not that the scent was overtly feminine – but it certainly was soft and floral – which convinced me to buy a ‘men’s’ product for my personal use. And how pleased I was! Naturally, we should all wear whatever appeals to us – notwithstanding the gender stereotypes, but this fresh scent appealed as a daytime daily with its lavender and mandarin notes. I have received many compliments from my female friends who had no idea of the brand yet now understand to look beyond the designated ‘female’ fragrances for lovely scents. Best part is that your male partner could share the same bottle!

Sometimes first impressions don’t count! Since I love T&H’s 1805 and Apsley, I initially was surprised by this when I first tested it. With strong floral and lemon hints, it seemed less masculine and more unisex which diverged from T&H’s more ‘manly’ offerings. Since T&H’s scents are so reliable and I love new products, I did take a bottle only to leave it for some time before use. I now love it! It has become a firm favorite for its light, fresh cologne scent and is ideal for warmer weather or when a more ‘tropical’ vibe is required! This is a crisp cologne which is long-lasting and when paired with the wonderful shaving cream and balm leaves notes of mandarin and lavender swirling around my face for many hours. I would imagine this scent is popular with Women too given its softer undertones but make no mistake, I can wear this in just about any occasion and its lingering effects just make me happy! Why I waited to long to appreciate this scent, is a mystery!

It isn't overpowering, it isn't underwhelming, it is always just 'there'.

Not overpowering, or overly in your face macho scent. This is a clean smelling cologne that lasts about 6 hours on me. I would definitely purchase this again.

I had the opportunity to visit Truefitt & Hill on St.James Street in London on 25 September 2023 with my son. We went in for a shave. When mine was finished, Michael asked if I’d like some cologne. I don’t usually use anything other than a post shave lotion. But it was a special treat to be in such a famous shop that I decided to give it a go. Michael gave me a light spray of Mayfair on each side of my face. He told me it was their newest scent. I loved it right away and purchased a 100ML bottle to take home. It reminds me of London and that experience whenever I spray a bit on.
